#StayAtHome: Celebrating Mothers’ Day While Social Distancing

Mother’s Day is always worth celebrating, even these unusual circumstances. There’s no better way to say thanks to the spectacular women in your life than to dedicate a whole day to spoiling them and making them feel loved. Because of social distancing measures, many of the Mother’s Day traditions we love to celebrate every year have been disrupted – but this doesn’t mean we can’t dote on our mums this Sunday! Check out this list of isolation-friendly Mother’s Day activities you can enjoy with your loved ones.

1. Share a Breakfast Feast
One of our favourite Mother’s Day traditions is sharing a delicious hot breakfast – whether we make our own or go out to eat at a local café, it doesn’t get much better than a tasty brekky feast. Sharing a meal with our mums might look a little different to how it usually would, but that doesn’t mean we can’t spoil them with food this Sunday!

If your mum lives nearby, why not make her breakfast and deliver it to her door? We guarantee she’ll love eating a delicious hot breakfast, especially if it’s hand-crafted by her favourite people. If you don’t break any social distancing regulations in the process, you could even organise a breakfast picnic in the backyard or at a local park. Otherwise, share your meal via video call, and make sure your mum feels loved and supported this Mother’s Day.

If cooking isn’t your forte, or you aren’t able to be with your mum in person, support a local business by organising a food delivery. Many restaurants and cafés are still open for takeaway for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you can spoil your mum while helping out your favourite local businesses!

2. Get Crafty with Homemade Gifts
There’s something extra special about homemade gifts. Showing someone how important they are to us by taking the time to create a personalised, unique gift beats a shop-bought present any day!  If you have little ones, encourage them to create a card or draw a picture for the mums, aunts and grandmothers in their lives. It sounds simple, but sometimes simple is best, and we’re positive their gorgeous handmade artwork will be treasured by its recipient! Getting creative is also a great way to keep your kids occupied while improving their drawing, imagination and motor skills.

Don’t let the kids have all the fun, though – get your hands dirty and create some personalised gifts of your own! A scrapbook filled with photos and memories, a bouquet of handpicked flowers, coasters, lip balm.. The possibilities are endless! Whether you’re a DIY whiz or a total beginner, with a bit of research, you’ll find the perfect gift idea that the mothers in your life are sure to love.

3. Pamper with a Spa Day
Is your mum in dire need of some pampering and relaxation? We have the perfect solution! Set her up with a DIY day spa equipped with everything she needs to chill out and enjoy some much-needed time to herself.

First of all, for ultimate relaxation, light a candle or spray or diffuse some essential oil. Scents like lavender, peppermint and cinnamon are said to be the most soothing – and they smell amazing too! A facial scrub is an essential component of a chilled-out day spa experience. You could purchase some from your local pharmacy or beauty retailer if they are open, or make your own with ingredients you’ll almost certainly have at home already. Trust us, it’s easier than it sounds! Take a look at these facial scrub recipes to get inspired.

Finally, brew your mum a pot of her favourite tea, and leave her to relax! We hope this blog has provided you with the inspiration you need to spoil your Mum this Sunday! We’d also like to wish all the incredible mothers, aunts, grandmothers and mentors out there a wonderful Mother’s Day – thank you for everything you do. We think you’re amazing!
